IKON
For this project, I embarked on a personal journey with my father, capturing moments that reflect both his passions and our bond. Armed with an antique camera, aptly named IKON, which parallels his age, I documented his cherished collection of vintage Philips radios and classic Renault cars. Each photograph serves as a tribute to his life-long dedication to these timeless items, revealing the stories and memories they hold.
The project's culmination is a handmade leporello book, designed to emulate the bellows of the IKON camera. This format not only enhances the tactile experience of viewing the images but also symbolizes the unfolding of our shared history. Through this work, I aim to celebrate my father as an icon in my life, honouring both his legacy and the enduring beauty of the objects he loves.
The photographs displayed are a subset of the work, all made using a Zeiss IKON camera with Ilford HP5 400 pushed to 1600 ISO. They have been enlarged as darkroom prints as well as digitally scanned for the construction of the leporello book which was printed on fine art paper and assembled by hand in a limited set of four.
